About Lorem Ipsum / Text Generator
This tool generates placeholder "dummy" text in the classic Lorem Ipsum style, for filling in mockups, wireframes, and design layouts before real content is ready. Generate by paragraphs, sentences, a fixed word count, or a bulleted list, and optionally wrap the result in HTML tags (<p> for paragraphs, <li> for list items) so it can be pasted directly into a page. All generation happens locally in your browser.
Why "Lorem Ipsum"? A Bit of History
Lorem Ipsum text is scrambled, altered Latin derived from a passage in Cicero's 1st-century BC work "De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" ("On the Ends of Good and Evil") — designers have used passages like it since at least the 1500s to preview how a page's typography and layout will look, without the reader's attention being pulled toward actually reading (and judging) the words themselves. Because the text doesn't mean anything readable, it lets a designer or client focus purely on visual things like font choice, spacing, and column width — real content, in a real language, tends to distract from that by inviting people to actually read and critique the wording, which isn't the point of a layout mockup.
