About Slug Generator (SEO)
This tool converts an article title into a clean, SEO-friendly URL slug — lowercased, with spaces replaced by hyphens (or underscores), and all punctuation removed. Accented letters are automatically converted to their plain equivalent (like "café" becoming "cafe") rather than being stripped away entirely. An optional max length setting trims the slug down for very long titles. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Why Slugs Matter for SEO
A URL slug is the part of a web address that identifies a specific page — in yoursite.com/blog/10-tips-for-better-sleep, the slug is 10-tips-for-better-sleep. Search engines and readers alike can get a quick sense of what a page is about just from a clean, readable slug, which is part of why a good one is considered a small but meaningful SEO signal. Slugs are kept lowercase and hyphen-separated by convention because URLs are technically case-sensitive and can break or create duplicate-content issues if inconsistent casing is used, and because spaces have to be encoded awkwardly (as %20) if left as-is. Removing punctuation avoids characters that have special meaning in a URL (like ?, &, or #) or that simply add clutter without adding meaning.
