About URL Encoder / Decoder
This tool encodes and decodes URL components and query strings, and lets you build or parse a full query string parameter by parameter. Whether you need to safely embed a value inside a URL, decode a URL you've received, or construct query parameters for an API request, everything runs locally in your browser — nothing you type is ever sent to a server.
Understanding URL Encoding
URLs can only safely contain a limited set of ASCII characters, so anything outside that set — spaces, symbols, non-Latin characters — must be percent-encoded as %XX, where XX is the character's hex byte value. URI Component encoding (encodeURIComponent) escapes nearly everything, making it the right choice for individual query parameter values. Full URI encoding (encodeURI) leaves reserved characters like : / ? & = untouched, since those are meant to keep their structural meaning when encoding an entire URL. Form encoding (application/x-www-form-urlencoded) is what HTML forms use by default — it works like component encoding but represents spaces as + instead of %20.
