About Text Compare
This tool compares two blocks of text and highlights exactly what changed between them — removed content in red, added content in green. Choose to compare line by line, word by word, or character by character, depending on how granular you need the comparison to be. Everything runs locally in your browser; neither text is ever sent to a server.
How Text Diffing Works
This tool finds the differences using the same underlying idea as most diff tools (including git diff): it computes the Longest Common Subsequence (LCS) between the two texts — the longest sequence of matching lines, words, or characters that appears in both, in the same order. Everything in that shared subsequence is treated as unchanged, and everything else is marked as either removed (present only in the original) or added (present only in the changed version). Comparing at the line level is best for spotting structural changes like added or removed paragraphs, while word or character level reveals smaller edits within a single line.
