Remove Print/Copy/Edit Restrictions

Remove PDF Restrictions

Which situation matches your PDF? Check which case applies before uploading, so you know exactly what to expect.

Case 1: Opens fine, but printing/copying is blocked

Your PDF opens and shows its content immediately — no password prompt at all. But you can't print it, select/copy text, or edit it (buttons are greyed out, or you get a "not permitted" message).

Just upload the file. Restrictions are removed automatically — no password needed from you at all.

Case 2: Asks for a password before showing anything

The moment you try to open the PDF, a dialog box appears asking you to enter a password — you can't see any content until you type it in correctly.

You must already know that password. Upload the file, enter the password when asked, and you'll get a copy that never asks for a password again — with its original text and quality fully intact. This tool cannot recover, guess, or bypass a password nobody knows.

About Unlock PDF / Remove Password

This tool removes password-based restrictions from a PDF. Most restricted PDFs can be unlocked automatically, with no password needed, because the restrictions (on printing, copying, or editing) are enforced by an "owner password" that doesn't block opening the file — every reader can already open and view these documents freely. If a PDF also requires a password just to open it, you can enter that password (which you must already know) to get an unlocked copy, with its original text and quality fully preserved. All processing happens locally in your browser, using QPDF (compiled to WebAssembly), a mature open-source PDF library — your file and any password you enter are never uploaded to a server.
