About Add Page Numbers to PDF

This tool adds page numbers to every page of a PDF automatically, in whichever format and position you choose — from a simple "1" to a full "Page 1 of 10". Since the numbers are drawn directly onto the existing page content rather than rendering the page as an image, the original text, vectors, and quality of your PDF stay completely intact. A live preview updates automatically as you adjust the settings. All processing happens locally in your browser; your file is never uploaded to a server.

Tips for Numbering Longer Documents

If your document has a cover page, title page, or table of contents that shouldn't be numbered, use "Skip first N pages" to leave those untouched — numbering will begin on the first page after the ones you skip. Combine this with "Start counting at" if you want the visible numbering to begin at something other than 1 (for example, starting at 1 on the first real content page even though it's technically the 3rd page in the file). Bottom Center is the most traditional, widely expected position for page numbers in printed and formal documents, while a corner position can work well if that area of the page is otherwise empty.
