About Image Cropper
This tool lets you crop an image to any area you choose, either freely or locked to a standard aspect ratio like 1:1, 16:9, or 9:16. Drag the crop box's corners to resize it, drag inside it to reposition, and the box automatically keeps your chosen proportions. All cropping happens locally in your browser at full resolution; your image is never uploaded to a server.
Common Aspect Ratios and Where to Use Them
1:1 is the standard square format for Instagram feed posts and profile pictures. 4:5 is Instagram's tallest supported feed ratio, giving a photo more vertical space in the timeline. 16:9 is the standard widescreen ratio for YouTube thumbnails, video players, and most modern displays. 9:16 is the vertical counterpart, used for Instagram/Facebook Stories, Reels, and TikTok. 4:3 was the standard ratio for older displays and is still common in presentations and printed materials, while 3:2 matches the native sensor ratio of most DSLR and mirrorless cameras, making it a natural choice for photography prints.
