About PDF Metadata Editor
This tool lets you view and change the hidden information stored inside a PDF file — its Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, and the application that created it — without touching the actual visible content of the document. Upload a file, edit any field, and download an updated copy at any time. All processing happens locally in your browser; your file is never uploaded to a server.
What Is PDF Metadata?
Every PDF file carries a small set of descriptive information alongside its visible pages, similar to the "Properties" or "Details" tab you'd see on a Word document or photo file. This includes a Title (often shown in a browser tab or PDF reader's window title, separate from any heading printed on the page itself), an Author and Subject, a list of Keywords that some search tools use for indexing, and technical fields like Creator and Producer that usually name the software used to make the file (e.g. "Microsoft Word" or "Adobe Acrobat"). None of this is visible when you open and read the PDF normally, but it's readable by file browsers, search engines, and document management systems. People often edit or clear this information either to add proper attribution and context to a document, or for privacy — to remove details about who created a file and with what software before sharing it.
