Why This Approach, and What It Means for Your File
Reliably converting only the colors inside a PDF's internal structure — without touching anything else — is genuinely difficult to do safely, since a page's color can come from embedded images, vector graphics, or text fill colors, each stored differently depending on which software created the file. Getting this wrong risks producing a corrupted file, which is worse than not converting at all. Instead, this tool takes a more reliable path: it renders each full page as a single grayscale image and rebuilds the PDF from those images, which works consistently regardless of how the original file was created or where its color comes from.
The practical effect: every page becomes an image, so any selectable or searchable text in your original PDF will no longer be selectable or searchable in the result. Visually, the page will look identical in black and white, which is what matters for printing — but if you specifically need to keep the underlying text selectable, this tool isn't the right fit for that requirement.
