What Actually Changes
The photo looks completely identical — same colors, same resolution, same visual content. What's removed is the invisible metadata block: GPS coordinates, device model, timestamp, camera settings, and similar hidden fields, none of which affect how the image looks.
Verifying It Worked
Right-click the cleaned file and check its Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac) — the Details or More Info panel that previously showed camera model or GPS coordinates should now be empty or show no location data. This confirms the metadata was genuinely stripped, not just hidden from a particular viewer.
Do This Before Sharing, Not After
Strip metadata before uploading or sending a photo anywhere — once shared, you generally can't retroactively remove metadata from a copy someone else already has. Make it part of your routine before sharing, rather than something to think about after the fact.
