Your Public IP, ISP, Location & Browser Details
This page shows two different kinds of information, gathered two different ways. Your browser and screen details (browser type, operating system, screen resolution, viewport size, language, timezone) are read directly from your own browser — nothing leaves your device to produce that part of the page.
Your public IP address, ISP, and approximate location work differently: a browser genuinely has no built-in way to know its own public-facing IP address, since that's determined by whatever network and router you're connected through, not by the browser itself. The only way to find it out is to ask something outside your own device that can see it — so this page makes one lookup request to an external IP geolocation service. This isn't a privacy compromise specific to this tool: it's the same information every website already receives every time you visit it, just displayed back to you directly instead of being used silently.
A quick note on accuracy: IP-based location is approximate, typically accurate to the city or region level at best, and reflects the location of your ISP's infrastructure rather than your literal physical location — it can be off, sometimes by a significant distance, especially on mobile networks or if you're using a VPN. Browser detection is based on parsing your browser's User-Agent string, which modern browsers are increasingly limiting for privacy reasons, so it's a best-effort reading rather than a guaranteed-exact one.
