About the Music Prompt Generator
This tool builds two things: a comma-separated style prompt (genre, mood, instruments, tempo, vocal style) for the Style/prompt field, and an optional song structure template using bracketed meta-tags like [Verse] and [Chorus] for the Lyrics field. Suno and Udio both read structure tags the same way — on their own line, guiding arrangement rather than being sung directly. Pick genre, mood, tempo, and vocal style with the click-to-add buttons, select any number of instruments, and optionally start from a song structure template. All generation happens locally in your browser.
Platform Notes
Shared formatBoth platforms use a short comma-separated style description plus bracketed structure tags in the lyrics — the same prompt generally works on either.
Suno: no real artist namesSuno blocks prompts that name real artists. Describe the sound characteristics instead of naming who it sounds like.
Suno: instrumental placementPut "instrumental, no vocals" at the end of the style prompt rather than the start — it tends to be respected more consistently that way.
Udio: repeat for emphasisUdio's own help documentation notes that repeating a key word in the prompt strengthens its influence on the result.
Udio: Style ReductionFor steering away from unwanted elements, Udio has a dedicated "Style Reduction" control in Advanced Controls, separate from the main prompt.
BPM is approximateOn both platforms, an explicit BPM can be overridden by a mood or genre tag that implies a different tempo — avoid combining conflicting ones, like "slow jazz" with "140 BPM".
